A Princess In The Making!

On Tuesday it was Danika’s 8th birthday!

My little girl, with the miraculous, God ordained birth, grew up so quickly!

It felt like only yesterday morning we had to make the tough decision as to which hospital we would go for the emergency C-section, after a night of labour at home, with no success. To only hours later, rush through the passages of Mowbray Hospital from the theatre section to the Active Birth Unit, as God had intervened and baby’s head crowned, ready to be born.

Minutes later, even before the midwife could gather all the stuff she needed, our perfectly healthy little girl popped out on the floor next to the bed, with no time to fill the birth pool!

By now I knew to avoid food my babies were sensitive to, and Danika was a little angel - no colic or cramps or endless nights with an unhappy newborn!

At six months she got Whooping Cough, but I was still exclusively breastfeeding her and though I didn’t sleep longer than an hour at a time for four weeks solid, we pulled her through without any antibiotics, hospitalization or a visit to an un-natural doctor, only our homeopath and natural medicine.

During the years she developed into a real princess, always playing dress-up.

At the age of four she followed in her older sister’s footsteps and started ballet!

A dream came true and she had her first ballet concert the next year, at the age of 5.

Last year she had her second ballet concert!
Danika didn’t only follow in Heidi-Mari’s footsteps with ballet, she did everything her older sister did!

Helping in the kitchen making salad,
to making cards and

having her own crafting blog!

What a privilege to have an older sister to teach you to be a lady and do girly things together!

Especially when you have four younger brothers!

May you have a blessed year ahead my little girl. The meaning of your name is Morning Star and the spiritual connotation, Attentive.

It is our prayer that you will grow more and more attentive to the voice of the Lord and His calling on your life!
We love you lots and lots!

"You will do well to be attentive to this
as to a  lamp shining in a dark place,
until the day dawns
and the morning star rises in your hearts."

Danika Made a Christmas Card

Danika absolutely adores her sister and imitates her in every possible way.
Since Heidi-Mari started her Blog Anniversary Card Making Challenge, I could see Danika wanted to participate as well.
This whole afternoon I helped her to make a Christmas Card.

I cut the paper and from there she coloured her image and polished and distressed the paper to her heart’s desire!  She enjoyed every second!
Tonight I supervised while she put the card together.
I think she did a fantastic job!  She will give the card to Heidi-Mari to add to the cards she will hand out the week before Christmas at an Old Age Home in Durbanville, South Africa!
Danika entered this card in the following challenges:
Christmas Card with a Twist at Heidi’s Crafts (she has some nice candy to win in celebration of her First Blog Anniversary!)

“X” for Xmas at Alphabet Challenge Blog
What a blessing to have an older sister who can inspire her to become a Daughter for the King!
